The Day Approaches...

Well, only 11 days until lift-off. For those few people who are bored enough to visit this blog, the family and I are participating in a teacher exchange to the UK for a year. We leave June 30 to spend a couple months travelling and visiting family before we settle into our new home in Cardiff. We are all very excited about this big adventure. We will try and update this site as much as possible to keep people in the loop as we travel around the United Kingdom in our recently purchased vehicle that my kids are calling "Lightning McQueen" (as shown here...for those of you who are familiar with the movie "Cars", you will know what they are referring to). More interesting posts to come...

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Well, we're midway through a nice 2-week break from work (a nice perk of being a teacher I suppose) and enjoying some time at home with the kids. Christmas day was great...the kids are now into the whole anticipation/Santa/presents thing, which is fun. Who knew that 2 year olds would be so easy to trick...before bed there are mince pies out beside the fireplace, when we awake, they are gone and there is a thank-you note from Santa (in handwriting looking suspiciously like dad's)! It's a Christmas Day miracle...Santa came to our house! Love messing with their little minds and look forward to many more years of it to come. Hope everyone is healthy and happy. Here's to everyone having a great holiday season and a prosperous and wonderful New Year!

101 Uses For The Common Brassiere

Present Day - So you thought bras were just for bossom support and perplexing teenage boys...well think again! We have just found out that depending on how you wrap them around yourself, you can become any animal you wish! For example, if the cups are under your chin on either side of your cheeks, you are now magically a dolphin! But it doesn't stop there...spin those cups around to the back and you are now a duck! Amazing, isn't it?

We Finally Get the Big Deal About Halloween!

Oct 31, 2006 - It took 2 and 1/2 years of being in existence, but the kids now know the deal with getting dressed up and knocking on doors...obscene amounts of candy. Since the day was so cold this year, we spent it inside carving pumpkins. I'm sure they think they did a lot of work helping mum and dad out on these (they really didn't the little slackers), but you have to admit, Kieran sure looks pleased with his work doesn't he! Their costumes consisted of a cat (Ethan), a bunny (Zoe), and a gorilla (Kieran). The picture is kind of blurry...the little ladybug is their little friend Quinn. Next stop on the "I Didn't Know I Could Get So Much Cool Stuff For Free" train...Christmas!

A Trip to the Park

I don't know how to backdate these things, so tackling the problem the logical way:

Sept 9, 2006 - Took a trip to Hawerlak Park in Edmonton on the weekend. Weather was perfect, had a few laughs kicking the leaves, playing many games of "chase", a few friendly games of tackle football and feeding the ducks. Some advice though...before you go throwing a whole loaf of bread to the nice, cute duckies, make sure there are no Canada geese around. I was quite surprised at their size as well as their lack of manners. At one point, we actually had to pick the kids up and run off as the geese were literally trying to attack us! Anyway, more to come in the near future.

Road Trip 06

This past 2 weeks, we braved taking 3 two year olds on a trip from Alberta to Manitoba to visit family and stay at my father's beautiful cabin on Lake Winnipeg. The weather was awesome. We spent most of our time...

feeding the local wildlife...

and squeezing/killing the local swamp life...

pissing naked in the bush on bear hunts...

nervously participating in water sports...

eating shitloads of ice cream...

and of course screwing around on the beach making dad eat "peanut butter" (aka sand)

All in all it was a great trip. The kids had a blast and we can't wait until next year to do it all over again. Mum and I are glad to be home though so we can have a bit of relaxation. Our holiday begins next week when we head back to work...!

In like Flynn...

Well, time to hop on this bandwagon I guess. Only a couple years behind in the times...no big deal. By the time I've got this shit figured out, I'll have to start "podcasting" my life or something.

My real hopes in doing this is to stay in touch with some people I barely talk to and speak to even less. I doubt the content will be at all stimulating to the average stranger (and maybe not even to the intended audience).
Here's a recent pic of me and my "peeps" (Sarah's behind the camera). As it is about 1:00 am and these clowns don't exactly sleep in, I'm out. More to come...
